I’m a self-love junkie who enjoys spending time with family and friends, eating good food, and blogging about personal experiences and mental health. I am Peruvian-American; believe it or not, as a child, my first language was Spanish. After a long day, you’ll find me cuddling with my cat and journaling or binge-watching my latest favorite TV show. If you’re looking for someone to cheer you on while you navigate healing your relationship with food and your body or can help you be less anxious, I’m your gal! As someone who’s a recovered binge eater and struggled with mental health, I am extremely passionate about helping others heal from the inside out.
I specialize in treating children (as young as 10), adolescents, and adults struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body dysmorphia, and other related disorders. As a bilingual therapist, I am able to conduct therapy sessions in Spanish. While my primary specialty is eating disorders, I also help individuals better cope with anxiety, manage life transitions, and develop a healthier sense of self. I believe that in order to fully heal, we must get to the root cause - exploring childhood trauma and interpersonal relationships is a big part of the work I do with my clients.
Katie has worked at multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient, at one of the most renowned treatment centers in the country, Eating Recovery Center. She has worked with adolescents and adults who have undergone extensive treatment for their Eating Disorder and is incredibly knowledgeable on the many obstacles that one faces when undergoing intensive care.
Katie is a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) and Houston Eating Disorder Specialists (HEDS).

Clients have described my approach as 'firm yet gentle,' fostering an environment where healing can flourish. Together, let's work towards self-acceptance, resilience, and lasting change. As someone who comes from a big family, I learned the value of connection early on. Therefore, I prioritize establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with all my clients. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time by the ocean, gathering with friends and family, or exploring new restaurants – I am a self-proclaimed foodie! I'm here to make your healing journey as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, body dysmorphia, depression, and life transitions. I'm dedicated to guiding adolescents and young adults toward mental and emotional well-being. As a former competitive athlete, I have experienced firsthand how a competitive nature can sometimes lead to unhealthy behaviors in pursuit of perfection.
I am formally trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)—used for decreasing symptoms of PTSD, and work from a trauma-informed lens.
Victor Mendoza is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Ultimately, my goal is to create a non-judgmental space where clients feel respected and validated, while effectively addressing their maladaptive behaviors in order to decrease their suffering and help them live the life they want and deserve.
When I am not working, you’ll find me exploring the outdoors with my two standard poodles or watching anime—I love to collect figurines!
I am currently undergoing training in cognitive-behavioral therapies for a range of presenting concerns, with a special interest in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression.
